Cody Toppert is an Ivy League educated, former professional basketball player, currently serving as Assistant Coach for the Houston Rockets NBA D-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Cody has unique ability to enhance, teach, refine and impact the mindset and abilities of some of the top players in the sport.

Serves as the offensive coordinator for the 2016-17 Western Conference Champion Vipers. In 2016-17 the Vipers had the leagues best Offensive Rating (113.7) while leading the league in EFG% and TS%. The 2015-16 squad finished with the leagues’ second ranked offense (116.3 PPG, 20.5 APG), advancing to the Western Conference Semi-Finals. The Vipers have won 67 games in Cody’s two years, rolling out the league’s most dominant offense.
Cody has been an integral part of the development of Rockets assignees and NBA Call-Ups Isaiah Taylor, Kyle Wiltjer, Chinanu Onuaku, Troy Williams, Montrezl Harrell, Sam Dekker, Donatas Montiejunas, Gary Payton II (Bucks), and Jordan Hamilton (Pelicans).
Cody also assists the Rockets Front office with various scouting projects pertaining to the evaluation of teams and play- ers heading into the offseason and free agency. In addition to assisting on matters pertaining to the Rockets he is also a valuable member of the player evaluation process leading up to the NBA D-League draft.

Cody assisted the Rockets staff during the 2016 NBA Las Vegas Summer League, working with the young players during practice sessions and assisting with in game coaching and strategy.

Cody worked the prestigious 2016 GRG camp in Las Vegas, working with some of the NBA’s best young players and along side some of the NBA’s best coaches.
Haitian Senior National Team, Assistant Coach; Haiti, 2017-Present
Cody serves as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator for the Senior National team of Haiti. In this role he assists with player recruitment, evaluation as well team and organizational preparations as Haiti sets it sights on qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Games.

NBA/Professional Player Development
Cody has worked closely with over 20 NBA players. His duties included working with Agents, Scouts and players. 10 of these players were selected in the 2015 NBA draft, 5 were selected in 2014 and 3 were selected in 2013. Cody is well known for his work with Tyler Johnson, who signed the largest contract for an undrafted player in NBA history.
During his time with ELEV|8 Cody coached 21 players that moved on to play Division 1 college basketball and compiled a 55-14 record. The 2014-2015 team rose as high as #3 National ranking, with a record of 25-4 including victories over #1 ranked Oak Hill, #3 ranked New Hampton and culminated in a loss in the Prep School National Championship Elite 8. In 2013-2014 Cody’s team compiled 30-10 record.
